Where Your Name Is Known

Rumi in the grass
Beneath cerulean skies
Sun-baked clouds
Kind hearts
Silver eyes

What’s the dream worth if days
Spent crestfallen
Reading fantasy keeps me light
Crying on the couch tells me
I’m here to read and write
To cope with beauty and
Time
Drunk on art
Art is life
Life is magic
We’re making poetry in different ways

Drunk on flowers and wind
Summer storms and
Pain, drunk on Love —
Love can hurt the most
When aching for it
Like water to one who’s scoured the moon
Drunk on sky and drunk
On you — memories
Make me smile

\\

I wanna be bare
Hollow like a winter tree
Only feel lost when thinking of me
What I’m not
And who I should be
I am what I am
Blood and soul reaching for
Eternity

Fed water from a spring
That wells from within
Blocked by thoughts of stone
If it feels like the world is crumbling
Wrap yourself in warm thoughts
I know
They seem so out of reach
Love
Must spring from the well inside
Laughter makes everything melt
Makes the hardest things in life
As light as can be
Your laugh keeps me from breaking
Completely
A stupid laugh
To teach us to breathe
Again

Let the world crumble
If only you may too
Nothing better I could do
Than watch the sunset
Here with you

\\

Tears like bricks
A smile cracks the wall
Of your lips
Fall from the highest tower
Into your joy
Presence, calm, a well of light as
Deep as night
Even in a dessert
You shine as twilight
A canvas of stars
You’re shining.
Even on your worst days
Lower than low
You’re shining.

Unclench your heart and let love
Pour through
Let in summer air
Sparkling off the river.
Let spray of waves linger on
Skin
Then flash a devilish grin.
Fuck it all.

Maybe you’re not famous here
As if that’s what you want
But in the realm of love
Your name is known
Your smile too
Your laughter the language of
Gods
Perhaps not in the earthly realm
But somewhere more important
The zeitgeist of kindness

Where
Sky is all color and light
We’re here —
Where nothing’s really
As it seems
