Warm Hug on a Cold Day

cars in the rain sound like waves
it’s soothing in a way
like a van gogh painting

blissed out
omamori dangling from my bag
how i love autumn style
i think about my uncle nels
when considering my swag
athletic drip is core to me
zipped-up collar and earthy tones of
evergreen
watching rain in the park
sitting on a stone statue with a
raincoat on
its color like the cosmos

it doesn’t get better than this for me
childhood memories
paris in the rain
gives me this comforting feeling
like a warm hug on a cold day

you got a crazy energy
nobody like you
the fire, grit, joy in your soul
share it, son
bleed from your heart in laughter, friendships
how good it feels to be a novice
learning, learning, learning that
everything will be okay

i recently came across a moon tree
and like it
i feel watered by things i can’t control

the trees are changing in
washington square park
dark purple concrete soaked in rain
lampshades, church spires, umbrellas, dark green leaves
bushes, flowers, soaking in blissed out sky
life stitched together by choices every day

i choose joy, love, curiosity, peace
a life at ease
sitting in the rain
after knowing years of pain
yet everything passes
it’s autumn again
my favorite season
when things turn a shade darker
yet fires turn on
to illuminate our hearts

the smells of sweet spice, roasting vegetables
things are just nice
a little more mystery
sizzling neon lights
in the blue-red haze
here i am rising
in sunsets, the weight room, the deserts and the sea
every place that i’ve gone
i’ve always remained me
playing
on a stone statue
god, i love this park in the pouring rain
