24 Sep DTD #90: Life’s Best Experiences Are On the Other Side of Fear
On this short solo episode, Vinny uses his current journey teaching English in Japan to express how the best experiences in life—those that ask us to get outside of our comfort zone and look the fool—exist on the other side of fear.
We all fear the unknown; we fear looking dumb and like we don’t know what we’re doing. So we’d rather play it safe. Nothing which causes us to grow ever comes from playing it safe.
When we face anything scary in life, we must seriously ask ourselves: what’s the worst that can happen? Will the sky collapse? Will we be embarrassed? Probably, but who cares?
That fear prevents us from living. It stops us from pursuing what’s been placed within our hearts because what we want, what we seek, will take some navigating in uncharted terrain. Yet that feeling is something to be cherished.
When we get out there, face our trepidation and challenge ourselves, our souls expand in ways we never could have imagined.
The good life comes from facing that fear again, and again, and again. That’s what the most successful, wisest, most fun-loving people amongst us have figured out. Being the fool is nothing to be ashamed of. It’s something to be celebrated.
