i can’t break myself from this shell of pain
i can only love it
writing poetry
trying to write beautifully
does something to reality
what is poetry?
what is beauty? the answer is the same
undefinable
whatever it is
requires thinking more deeply
and that’s all i hope to do
wherever i go
whomever i meet
reach beyond the horizon
unlock what’s underneath
show me the weirdos
let’s break the mold
underneath brick
are mountains of gold
why am i so scared sometimes?
i know what’s inside yet
afraid to confide
or even say hi when
i wanna say you shinin’
jesus life is beautiful
in all its deranged complexities
the sky moves quickly
nobody is watching you cause
we’re out here looking
for ourselves in
one another
it’s all good
who knows if i should
share every last drop
unless you feel the same
if you don’t i feel shame
when i try & get turned away
but does it when fuckin’ matter?
when the sun streaks across a wall of brick
it’s shinin’ either way
despite whatever the
gold has to say
before a doorway leading to
all that i may be
afraid of leaving the familiar
comfortable darkness
if only i knew how good the
light on the other side
felt
i’d step through courageously
and so i shall
it’s raining again
i love walking in the rain
when it comes and goes
i like when it’s just pouring, too
warm weather, cold rain
it’s gonna do
what it’s gonna do
we talking about the weather or pain
cause it’s the same thing
you don’t hide or shy away
in fact you enjoy it
it hasn’t always been easy
that’s what made this journey so meaningful
i’ve learned so much
i really don’t know anything
all trial and error
how do i feel in my body
my soul
peace of mind is everything
still
i love your wild side
concrete & trees
make up the city & the
wilderness of me
wanna enjoy each day
no time to waste one
watching new york city breathe is a
miraculous thing
