again, the setting sun

BEAUTIFUL CITY
in all its imperfections
rats are like squirrels
i imagine they’re remi from ratatouille
flowers in the cracks
help us survive
they are the music
we are the light
you make the world go ‘round

between us
no seperation
realizing we are all one
makes things easier
i wanna do you good
your victory is mine
maybe one day if we’re lucky
we’ll all just fade into the sky

oh, there’s supposed
to be more than this?
biking to the river at sunset
music in my ears
a book and journal in my bag?
this is all I could ever dream of
purple rooftops
glistening skyline
orange twilight
seen for the first time

i love the time of silhouettes
evening nights couldn’t be
more pleasant
colors are unbelievable
shifting by the minute like us
animals
everything

how wonderful
there’s a place to go for free in nyc
late into the evening
surrounded by others
faces dusky sparkling eyes
the greatest thing
humans could be doin together
watching the sunset
blanketed in burning night

meaning-makers
what do you make of the heart
that doesn’t stop shining
despite the world telling
it to close?

what do you make of the one
who smiles in squabble?
call them
mystic, sage
as they’re the ones
who understand the game
we just don’t
understand anything

to love life despite
its contents
because it’s the
only one we’ve got
context —
art must be
reality

why do we rush to
an earthly grave?
there’s nothing to do
for our soul to be saved
so let your heart smile
forget the rules
be the leaf
okay not knowin’
where you’re goin’
again, i come
to watch the setting
sun
