A Cold Day in a Garden

You don’t need to know where you’re goin
Just go and catch a vibe
Dress well for yourself
I love the art in the windows
Cool people with pizza boxes
A choir performing on the street
Polyphonic harmony
From all walks of life
Complex intertwining melody that takes
My breath away
If you can enjoy the simple things
You got it all

It’s a rainy spring day in Chinatown
It feels hard, too.
Unmanageable. All of it.
I’m shooting in the fucking dark
Aiming for the light
Just surviving should be enough
But surviving seems like only the beginning
Our purpose is
To make something of survival
Like that polyphonic tune
To keep going, and be part of earth’s turning
I dance alone in my apartment
Cry there too
How can I do it all
Just spend my life trying
And when the seasons pass
The leaves fall
I’ll look back
And know I’ve
Lived

Legacy an echo of
Love
Like laughter in the pouring rain
When I left home and went out
Once more to
Try again
I love a cold day in a garden
I come here and surrender
I feel so much better when I
Let it come. Let it stay
Instead of fighting
Pushing away
Listening to foreign languages and
Wind chimes
That’s where I’m meant to be
1000 shades of brick
Purple, red, amber. Orange. Peach. Cream.
Bone. Dust. Firefly. Twilight. Blood. Sunset.
Fire. Gunpowder. Flesh. Pinecone. Mortality.

Went to a garden to find something
Lost myself in a thousand bricks and
Came away more free
You met me there
The song that I was searching for
You let me in
You let me come
You let me stay
You lingered on my mind like
Incense in the rain
I wanna lick the storm off
Of your face
Don’t sell your soul
It won’t make you happy
Does the storm ever settle
Or is it the only thing that makes
Us feel alive
